Food Bank Truck Engine

New Haven Ministries is a 501 (c)(3)
Non profit charity formed in 1986.
We are a food bank that helps over 1200 families per month. Our refrigerated truck brings back approximately 70,000 pounds of food per month.

URGENT NEED April 2019
We have just been informed (April 2019) by two dealerships that the engine in our refrigerated truck must be replaced within approximately 60 days if our truck is to remain in service. Bad piston and rings. The Diesel CAT engine will cost $15,000.00 to $16,000.00 for a long block installed. Without this truck our needy families will not be able to receive the meat and fresh vegetables they desperately need. We are asking churches and individuals to please help through financial donations for this engine.

Retail Value of food products brought back yearly from the 10 major supermarkets that donate to us averages over 900,000 pounds of food with a retail value of over $1,300,000.00

We are able to give approximately $250.00 retail value of food to each of our families each month thus increasing greatly their quality of life and nutritional health.
Without our refrigerated truck we could not pick up our stores and the monthly food value for each family would drop to approximately $25.00-$30.00 per month. This would be devastating to our seniors and disabled on fixed income.

In 31 years of being the Executive Director of New Haven I have never had to send out a request like this. I do not have the ability to express how much our clients need this food. I have hundreds of notes telling me how much they depend on us each month for basic needs. Nearly 50% of our families are seniors or disabled on fixed income. For many we are the major supplier for their meals. PLEASE help us keep the food coming.
