Food and Essentials for Ukrainians in Castellane

Hello,
We have all heard about the destruction of Ukrainian cities and the terrible toll on residents fleeing their country for safety, and we want to help!
This fundraiser is organized by Pascal Béguin and Nancy Herfield, who own a bed and breakfast (Chasteuil Location ) that they have operated for over 25 years in the small town of Chasteuil, France (2 hours north of Nice) in the Gorges du Verdon. Pascal has lived in Chasteuil for 40+ years, and Nancy is a native Californian.
The 18 residents of Chasteuil are joining the aid efforts of Castellane, which is Chasteuil's nearest neighbor and has a population of just over 1500 residents.
Local volunteers from Castellane have driven to Poland to bring aid and help Ukrainian refugees with food, medical supplies, and clothing. Through their humanitarian effort, the volunteers have been able to bring women and children back to Castellane, the youngest survivor being less than a month old. Today, there are 40 Ukrainian refugees sheltered in Castellane. One of the Ukrainian families has a car, but the rest only have what they were able to carry and the clothes on their backs when they had to leave their country.
The town of Castellane is finding long-term lodging for the refugees to give them permanence and a place to call their own for at least a year, as well as helping them get jobs and place their children in school. So far, the people of Castellane and Chasteuil have been personally donating food and lodging, but there is so much more needed for an extended amount of time.
Our goal is to help two families, (7 adults and 7 children, 2 of whom are babies), out of this group of 40 refugees. With the money raised, Nancy and Pascal will shop and deliver food and essentials—and this is the big commitment—FOR A YEAR! We are in it for the long haul!
Will you please open your hearts to help this small group of people that have been displaced from their country, their lives, their families, and friends? Every little bit can make such a difference for them! Pascal and Nancy have already made the first delivery of food. The families were so happy to get fresh food.

Nourriture et produits de première nécessité pour les Ukrainiens à Castellane
Bien le bonjour tout le monde, à Chasteuil le 27 mars 2022
Depuis quelques jours, Nancy, Jan, une amie aux Etats-Unis, moi, et d’autres personnes mettons au point une cagnotte avec GoFundMe, une plateforme de dons sécurisée, afin de pouvoir participer à aider deux familles de réfugiés ukrainiens logés à Castellane, centre de notre commune. Le but est de pourvoir les aider en nourriture, particulièrement en produits frais. Il y a quatorze personnes dont 7 adultes, 5 enfants, 2 bébés, un de cinq mois un d’un mois à peine.
Nous avons déjà, après les avoir rencontrés, fait notre première livraison de victuailles (lait et laitages, fruits et légumes, viandes et charcuterie, enfin quelques douceurs pour les enfants) à leur grand bonheur et reconnaissance.
Nous désirons continuer tant que nécessaire (un an au besoin) à les aider de cette façon, mais cela a un coup important et nous avons besoin d’aide, aussi avons-nous mis en place depuis hier soir cette cagnotte de dons.
Tout don, du plus petit au plus grand sera bienvenu.
