Food Aid FOR Overberg District Firefighters

So often, when disaster strikes, we focus on those affected, as opposed to remembering all the brave souls risking their lives in the background. 

Firefighters in the Overberg (South African region east of Cape Town), have been attending to two separate, widespread fires since last Thursday, December 12. 

My mother, Whanadi (Diddi), a resident of Greyton (one of the towns currently mobilized to evacuate people and animals to safety), is on the ground aiding firemen, and civilian volunteers with evacuations, food, water, and accommodation. 

As the fire continues spreading across the mountains into little towns and inaccessible areas, the first responders continue covering as many of the affected areas -  many exhausted from their efforts, hunger, and sleep deprivation. 

Whilst the overall devastation continues to be assessed, the immediate needs to replenish their energy is food, ice water, energy drinks, and accommodation for all first responders.
