After two years of being close to accomplish our dreams to open our physical space, COVID-19 hits us putting a stop to all of our hard work.
Today we decided to change our focus from our dreams and partner with our latinx, trans and gender non conforming community to provide relief to victims of COVID-19. The first $2,000 have been spent in direct community aid. We donated $1,000 to Colectivo Intercultural Transgrediendo food pantry and invested the remaining funds in our trans and gender non conforming community. Over night, our members lost their jobs forcing them back into poverty.
We are now increasing our fundraiser to continue supporting trans & gender non conforming immigrants in New York City. Over the last few months we've been strategically collaborating with the #Lovewinsfoodpantry and have seen the power of community support. We have coordinated weekly food drop offs for transgender community in food deserts who are homebound and outreached directly to our trans and gender non conforming immigrant community.
Living in an oppressive system that violates the rights of vulnerable people, supporting a transgender led eco-system of support and empowerment for our community is the right thing to do.
