Somos una familia de Venezuela , que el pasado 21 de abril de 2017, tuvimos un gran susto con nuestra hija de 15 años Andrea Gabriela, ella sufrió un ACV debido a una Malformación ArterioVenosa (MAV), que se encuentra en la parte frontal derecha de su cerebro.
Tuvimos que ir a la sala de emergencias por este ACV y luego de hacerle varios exámenes , entre ellos una Tomografía , se descubrió esta malformación , que si bien la tiene desde su nacimiento ,fue en este momento que se rompió y se produjo el sangrado.
Gracias a Dios no sufrió algún daño neurológico , gracias a que se le atendió bastante rápido. Sin embargo, a raiz de este ACV, estuvo 8 días hospitalizada monitoreada las 24 horas del día además de recibir tratamiento para el dolor y para lograr que la sangre comenzara a reabsorberse y bajara la inflamación del área.
Fueron días de mucha incertidumbre y angustia, confiando en que ella por su juventud,respondiera bien al tratamiento.
Luego de estos 8 días la dieron de alta y le indicaron 3 meses de reposo , sin esfuerzos físicos y mentales, debía estar lo más tranquila durante este período ya que la sangre debía reabsorberse completamente.
Pasaron ya los 3 meses y luego de realizarle nuevas Tomografías y Resonancias se constató que si se reabsorbió la sangre producto de la hemorragia y bajo la inflamación , por lo cual ya se podía programar el siguiente paso que es eliminar esa Malformación, ya que cada día que pasa después de haber sangrado por primera vez , existe un alto riesgo de volver a sangrar aún sin hacer ningún esfuerzo.
Durante este tiempo que ha transcurrido los médicos le indicaron ciertos medicamentos que eran y son determinantes para su recuperación, sobre todo en cuanto a prevención de posibles convulsiones y cualquier otro efecto colateral que haya podido producir este ACV.
En nuestro país Venezuela , debido a la situación política social que vivimos actualmente, estas medicinas hubo que buscarlas hasta en el exterior, ya que no se consiguen aquí en el país por lo cual salieron más costosas.
Para la eliminación de esta Malformación hay varios tipos de procedimientos y luego de realizarle varios exámenes se llegó a la conclusión sobre cuál sería el más indicado para ella y este es La Radiocirugía. El procedimiento es bastante preciso, menos riegoso y menos invasivo , además sus expectativas para eliminar por completo esta Malformación son muy buenas, ya que el sitio en donde se encuentra es bastante delicado hacer una operación convencional sin la posibilidad de producir un daño a otra área del cerebro.
Durante esta experiencia los costos han sido altos y variados, por lo que nos hemos visto en la necesidad de acudir a este medio para esta segunda etapa ya que la misma implica el procedimiento de Radiocirugía, exámenes costosos, medicinas , las cuales algunas de ellas debemos traerlas de fuera de nuestro país ,con el agravante por cierto que debe tomarlas por largo tiempo.
Por otro lado , como dije anteriormente en Venezuela hay una situción de incertidumbre, es poreso que debemos hacer este procedimientolo antes posible.

We are a family from Venezuela, who on April 21, 2017, had a big scare with our 15 year old daughter Andrea Gabriela, she suffered a stroke due to an ArterioVenosa Malformation (AVM), which is located on the front right side of your brain.
We had to go to the emergency room for this stroke and after doing several tests, including a CT scan, this malformation was discovered, although it has since birth, it was at this point that it broke and bleeding occurred.
Thank God she did not suffer any neurological damage, thanks to which she was attended to fairly quickly. However, as a result of this stroke, she was hospitalized for 8 days, monitored 24 hours a day, in addition to being treated for pain and getting the blood started to reabsorb and reduce inflammation in the area.
There were days of great uncertainty and anguish, hoping that she, by her youth, would respond well to the treatment.
After these 8 days were discharged and indicated 3 months of rest, without physical and mental efforts, should be as quiet during this period as the blood should be completely reabsorbed.
After 3 months and after performing new Tomographies and Resonances it was found that if the blood was reabsorbed the product of the hemorrhage and under inflammation, so that the next step was to program the elimination of this Malformation, since each day Which happens after having been bled for the first time, there is a high risk of bleeding again without making any effort.
During this time the doctors indicated certain medications that were and are determinants for their recovery, especially in terms of prevention of possible seizures and any other side effects that may have produced this stroke.
In our country Venezuela, due to the current social political situation, these medicines had to be sought even abroad, since they are not available here in the country and therefore cost more.
For the elimination of this Malformation there are several types of procedures and after performing several tests it was concluded on which would be the most suitable for her and this is Radiosurgery. The procedure is quite precise, less risky and less invasive, and its expectations to completely eliminate this malformation are very good, since the site where it is located is quite delicate to do a conventional operation without the possibility of producing damage to another area of the brain.
During this experience the costs have been high and varied, so we have seen the need to go to this medium for this second stage since it involves the Radiosurgery procedure, costly exams, medicines, some of which we must To bring them out of our country, with the aggravating fact that it must take them for a long time.
On the other hand, as I said earlier in Venezuela there is a situation of uncertainty, that is why we must do this procedure as soon as possible.
