Folks on the Road Project & Podcast

Donation protected
The Folks on the Road journey starts with a cross-country road trip of story gathering. From the United States’ east to west coasts, Kim Folks will meet new people, build connection, listen to stories few have ever heard, and share them with the world. The end result: a podcast series and maybe a book.  Along the way: epic photos, great anecdotes, some travel tips, and personal discoveries that will be shared via blog posts and Instagram.

The project was born of Kim’s personal desire to challenge herself along with an innate curiosity about people and their stories. The “Folks on the Road” podcast is about hope and transformation and will include prescheduled interviews and some will be with people Kim meets on the road.  Conversations will be geared towards discussing the most impactful experiences or decisions people have made, how they have affected the trajectory of their lives and what have they learned from them.

Kim’s hope is that by sharing her experiences and the stories of others, some nugget of truth or inspiration will help or inform someone else. In this way, we will pay forward our greatest discoveries, successes, and lessons.

 Examples of some upcoming expenses:

$5 Coffee for an interview

$20 bunch of flowers and a bumper sticker for a hospitable host

$40 tank of gas

$125 hotel room for the night

$400 portable podcast equipment

$750 a day for editing costs

OR... pledge $10 a mile

The Trip Itself -
The plan is to depart from New York the first week of June and head to Willmington, NC.  There will be a few stops in North Carolina and then to Nashville, TN and onto St. Louis where I will catch Route 66 to Amarillo, TX.   From Texas, I'll head to New Mexico and then Utah to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.  Next up southern California and will visit Apricot Lane Farms, spend some time driving up the coast of California and up to Portland, OR and Washington state if time and $ allow.  Heading back east across Idaho and Wyoming, eventually landing in Michigan with family by summer's end.

What I will do when I get back
In September I will be working with two award-winning producers Kathie Russo and Anthony Dec, to begin the editing and production process to launch the Folks on the Road podcast. A book and coaching may also be on the horizon, but what I know for sure is ... this is what I'm supposed to be doing next, and cross country journey and podcast will lead me to whatever is on the horizon!

What your support means to me
Everything...  I am excited and grateful for all the support and enthusiasm I have gotten from people I talk to about this project and truly appreciate whatever way you can show your financial support.

Follow Folks on the Road on Instagram and Facebook and stay tuned as I get ready to hit the road!!!!
