IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Being a child, and growing up with less than the basic necessities can rob you of the actual joys of childhood. Having to take care of yourself, and possibly your siblings, from a young age places a heavy weight on very little shoulders. Sometimes, with the help of a few friends, that burden can be lifted and placed on the shoulders of those better equipped to make a change. One set of shoulders belong to Louis Coleman. Having grown up in Chicago’s inner-city, Lou has been where these kids are, and knows the pains they are going through on a daily basis. With a heart as big as his stature, Lou has taken on the task of working effortlessly to make a difference in the lives of many kids both in Chicago and now in the DMV, through sports-related events such as basketball camps, training, and coaching.
Looking to expand on this vision, Lou is stepping out on his faith and creating a non-profit aimed at providing a safe place where children can receive more of this coaching and training, as well as mentoring and other help as needed. In the meantime, as Lou goes into the different communities, he sees a more immediate need that he knows he can help fulfill…with a little help from his friends. A lot of the children Lou interacts with have a need for basic necessities, some that we all take for granted (list items?).
Starting on a smaller scale, Lou will be providing 1,000 bags of essentials to the community children and their families and distributing them on 27 October. Your help in the form of donations is needed to make this a reality and allow Lou to bring some relief to the lives of these children.
So please, dig deep into your hearts and help us make this first giveaway a memorable experience for these children. We only have a few weeks to make this happen…but, we have faith that it will all come together and be great! Give as much as you can and send this link to as many people as you can, asking them to donate as well. Let's make this happen together!!!

It takes a village to raise a child…but, with FAITH, OPPORTUNITY, COURAGE, UNITY and SUCCESS (F.O.C.U.S.) they stand a better chance when they step out into the world.
