Funeral Costs Fund

My name is Steve Gossett and on February 24 of this year me and my boys have lost the most important thing to us, my wife.

My wifes story is not a clean-cut case of expected death, nor was it an accident, she was a victim of the health care system and her doctor and specialists who dropped the ball on her health.

She unnecessarily died from complications of what is called uterine fibroids and was due to have a hysterectomy  just two short weeks after her death to correct her issue. They were so bad that she was bed-ridden, couldnt have bowel movements or otherwise get around without help.

I say unnecessarily died because the doctors, under LA Care, basically worked a slow pace and didnt pay attention to our concerns regardless of her pain and immobility and one specialist saying she needed immediate surgery.

During the early morning hours of Feb 24 she went to the bathroom, came out hyperventilating and said she needs to go to ER. I took her, about seven minutes away, and within an hour she was gone.

I later found out from the autopsy doctor that one of the masses she had that was just behind the uterus burst so she essentially bled to death in the ER room with not a single person picking up on the signs of her rapidly losing blood pressure leading up to her heart stopping. All those chest compressions they were doing just simply pumped her blood out right through that mass that burst.

Past my starting this Gofundme page, I do have a Wordpress blog (http://www.stevegossett.info/bring-cristina-home/) where I journal the whole tragic story from her death, to the crappy coroner being so backlogged they kept her for almost a month, and continue to write about her/our story as things continue to unfold.

Things have been extremely tough on us emotionally and financially and it was suggested to me to try this site to try and raise money for what we have used for funeral expenses such as for the mortuary and to help with our travel arrangements to the Philippines to deliver my wifes ashes to put next to her dad and so that her family can have some closure. Thats the hardest part at this point for me and my boys. I just want to get my wife home and to rest.

My sons are 12 years old, twins, one is autistic and the other is not. They miss their mom and even though one of my boys is autistic I know he doesnt fully comprehend this as sometimes he comes home from school and goes to look in our room to see if anyone is there.

My wife and I have not asked much out of this life other than the roof over our heads, jobs, good health for us and our boys and good friends. I have mixed emotions asking anyone publicly for something I havent really earned but if this helps us then its a blessing.

I cant offer much in return but blessings, or for the agnostic a simple thanks. In any regard, thank you for anything you donate, me and my boys appreciate it.
