ፍናን /F’NAN/ in Tigrigna means ‘RESILIENCE’. In Eritrean culture, resilience is deeply ingrained. F’NAN came in to being by a group of like-minded Eritrean individuals to rekindle this Eritrean mantra and to start a conversation within the Eritrean diaspora, especially those in the United Kingdom. We say to rekindle for a number of reasons:
At this juncture, in a world full of unprecedented events, we are witnessing the suffering of our compatriots. They are seeking refuge, for much better words, for safer and better life in Western countries. We are also witnessing the traumatic experiences they have to endure en-route to reach their destination. F’NAN cannot judge these individuals as to why they are where they are. We have to respect their choices.
F’NAN is a non-political charity organisation. F’NAN focuses on the individual as a member of humanity–worthy as anybody else to walk on this planet in peace, safety and hope. F’NAN’s vision is to ignite hope in the individual by focusing on listening and empowering the individual.
Another important reason for the founding F’NAN is that we are experiencing first-hand the disconnect of the youth and their families–a very serious concern in our community. Some are so serious that they had devastating effect on families. As FNAN’ers, we strive to come up with innovative ways to address these issues.
F’NAN is founded as a solution platform with strategic leadership and highly committed volunteers–mostly professionals, under and postgraduate students–who are committed to alleviate the hardship experienced by new arrivals of Eritrean origin and help them to integrate into the UK society in a phased-fashion.

We were reluctant at the start, but so many of you asked us to include this donation section.
Some of us has a wealth of experience of how startup companies grow in the private sector. To our surprise we are finding ourselves with this charity idea called F’NAN whose growth and synergy is so unprecedented for a charity let alone a private company. To date from its inception which was first week of April 2019, F’NAN has amassed a wealth of methods, intellectual properties and other unique artifacts that would take, putting it mildly, six-months for a fast startup company to achieve.
This simply put is remarkable.
To keep this momentum F’NAN requires your support at this early stage of development–the fund raised is primarily to build F'NANs digital infrastructure--which has found great admiration from those of you who have experienced it. We need to start building F'NAN's mentoring platform on a good foundation. We also need funds to rent public venues to spread F'NAN's message to the community and all that is required to make an outreach activity effective. You can ask your friends and family to help as well. You can ask the companies and employment places to help. We want you to be creative, and be an important part of the F’NAN phenomenon.
