Our equine therapy and rescue farm was hit hard by Hurricane Irma and we need immediate help in the form of volunteers to help repair and rebuild, donations of building materials, and cash donations!

On Monday, Hurricane Irma's winds hit our therapy farm full force leaving behind wreckage of downed fences, holes in our barn roof and a huge tear in our covered therapy barn and arena. Thankfully, none of our horses were hurt but the damage to our therapy arena is catastrophic.
The arena is a Coverall building that we bought in 2008 with a 30 year warranty against tears in the fabric, tears like this one. Coverall went bankrupt over the warranties because the fabric tears, making our warranty useless. Because this type of cover is known to tear, we could not get an insurance company to cover it.
The winds from Irma caused a tear that is almost 80 feet long and runs the length of the arena. The greater danger is that the cover also tore going up. If that tear continues to grow, the entire cover could come off.
We have been reaching out to companies that make comparable arena covers but so far none think they can repair a tear this large and their only suggestion has been to replace the cover for 20K. Without this arena, we will be unable to provide essential therapy to our clients who have already suffered so much tragedy and loss.
Many of those who need our services the most are the least able to afford treatment. We have never turned away a client who we believed we could help because they couldn’t pay for therapy. We rely on the support and generosity of the community and we need you now more than ever!

Flying Change Equine Therapy is an internationally recognized program that partners rescued and retired horses in therapy with children, teens, adults and families healing from trauma.
Our clients are recovering from the fallout of life’s tragedies like childhood neglect and abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, natural disasters and the trauma of war and combat.
They come to us from foster care, group homes, psychiatric hospitals, family and juvenile courts, addiction rehab centers and the VA hospital. They are often referred to Flying Change because no other type of treatment has helped them. In a study of our services, 82% of teens improved more in just 5 hour long sessions of equine assisted psychotherapy than they had in 2 years of traditional talk psychotherapy.
All of our horses are rescues we took in as babies, often when they were only days old. Our therapy clients raise the horses as part of their own healing.
