Wind Beneath My Wings

Donation protected
I first experienced flying when I was ten years old. Ever since then I've been hooked. Like Leonardo DaVinci said, "When once you have tasted flight you will forever walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will always long to return." I started my college education at Eastern Kentucky University pursuing a Bachelors degree in Aviation because I could not afford to go out of state. Three months into my Freshman year, my Mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She passed away only ten months later. I continued taking classes but put my flight training on hold. I received money from the insurance company after her passing and used it to transfer to my dream school...Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I completed my ground courses and was able to participate in graduation in May 2012 (on Mother's Day) because I only had two flight courses to complete. In April 2013 my Father was diagnosed with colon cancer and that same night his house in Kentucky was badly damaged by a tornado. Thus, I had to put my flight training and work on hold once again. I can no longer receive federal aid because the flight courses I need to complete are only worth one credit (To qualify you must be enrolled in 12 credits. Enrolling in 12 credits with aid still requires $10,000 out of pocket). I currently have $40,000 in loans and therefore have been denied for any further loan request. The hardest thing I've ever had to experience was losing my Mom. I always told her that she was the wind beneath my wings and now that she's gone I keep thinking I'm just chasing down a dream that wasn't meant for me. But I refuse to give up. I've come too far and overcome too many obstacles to give up now. All I need now is your help. Donate anything you can, even if it's just a dollar and please share this with your friends and family. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
