<div>Grace* has been stranded far from home since 2020. She went to Iraq to work and support her family in Kenya—especially her 14-year-old daughter. Her contract ended long ago, but every attempt to go home has been delayed or derailed. Her passport was kept by her agent. She saved what she could for a ticket, only to be told she also owed penalty fees for an overstayed visa she could not control.

<div>When our team met Grace in Baghdad, she was soft-spoken but clear: she just wants to go home. She’s lost weight, struggles with stomach pain, sleeps poorly, and often cries. She isn’t in immediate physical danger—but she is exhausted, isolated, and heartsick. Her daughter has stopped calling because every promised homecoming fell through. No mother should have to live with that.
