Fly David Lindly Home

Donation protected
On October 1st, 2018, while observing the Feast of Tabernacles and the Last Great Day in Phuket, Thailand, David Lindly suffered a serious fall, breaking his left wrist, elbow, and hand in several different places, and dislocating his elbow completely.

He was rushed to a local hospital, but they didn't have the proper equipment and doctors to treat him, so he was transferred to another private hospital in Phuket.

When the doctor came to talk to David before his first surgery, he said in somewhat broken English, "You broke your arm very bad in many places."

Dave asked, "How many?"

"Too many!" The doctor replied.

The full details of David's injury are not clear yet, but at a minimum he broke multiple bones in his wrist and elbow, and has ligament damage in his elbow, wrist, and possibly his shoulder. It is also unclear right now, but the doctors treating him think there is a possibility that he also suffered a concussion or head-trauma from the fall. They are running additional tests to find out.

He now has permanent metal in his arm, and will likely have to undergo more surgeries upon his return to the USA. The pain is immense, due to the extent of the injuries, including bone-fragments that are floating around that will eventually need to be removed.

Why a Go-Fund-Me at this time?

The Lindly family made the decision to return home, since tickets to Thailand are so expensive and they couldn't lose their seats, while David still needed several days to recover in the hospital. Once he is cleared to return home, he will have a partially-fixed arm with broken bones throughout, and no escort home. Right now, he is all alone and will probably have to make the trip by himself. The hospital will provide an ambulance to the airport once he is OK to fly.

As you might imagine, flying economy half-way around the world with a mangled arm would be anyone's worst nightmare.

Let's fly David home in better conditions. In better comfort. Either in Business class, which we can do if we fulfill this fundraiser, or better yet, for a few thousand dollars more he can fly First Class all the way home.

Everyone who knows David KNOWS that he wouldn't ask for this on his own. He would be the first person to give up HIS seat for anyone who needed it. As one who has flown injured, I know how much of a difference a few inches in First or Business Class and a bit friendlier service can make.

Please consider helping David get home in relative peace and comfort. If you know David, you know how much he loves and cares for people. Let's get him home to Charlotte so he can start his road to recovery!

***Right now, the Lindly family is in negotiations with their insurance, and are hoping to have the trip home along with any medical bills paid for through that insurance. If some or all of the expenses are covered, David plans to reimburse everyone who is donating to help at this time. If the plane is covered but the medical bills are not, we will put any additional funds into helping the Lindly family deal with the medical costs of this incident. The Lindly's are very thankful for everyone's thoughts, support, and prayers.
