Due to an unforeseen overwhelming support from the Rangers family and as we get closer to the £14k target, we are going to increase the ‘goal’ and leave the fund open for donations so anything over and above the initial target can be donated to charity also.
My name is Lee Calder and I am the secretary of the Bridgeton Loyal Rangers Supporters Club, a member organisation and an officially registered Rangers Supporters Club. We are a supporters club based in the east end of Glasgow (Bridgeton) and we organise and take a bus of fans to each and every Rangers away match.
In what has been an incredibly difficult time for all across society, the true spirit of football has been realised, offering a temporary escape from the pandemic.
Supporters of Glasgow Rangers in particular have been spoiled by the quality of product on the pitch, with Steven Gerrard’s team looking set to break a 10 year duck and bring home title number 55.
There will never be a support more deserving of this success; backing the team in their hoards throughout all divisions of Scottish Football breaking records on the way back to the top of the domestic game. This loyalty should never be understated - and this is what makes it even more disappointing that supporters will not be able to see the team lift that trophy at ibrox.
For this reason, the Bridgeton Loyal Rangers Supporters Club are attempting to raise money in order to arrange a fly over by the Red Arrows on the day the league trophy is lifted. The plan is to have the arrows fly over Ibrox, George Square and then Bridgeton in what will be a historic day by all involved at the club.
Although not yet definitively clear if this will be possible, in the event that it does not materialise, all proceeds raised will be donated to a number of charities close to the wider Rangers family’s heart. If indeed the Fly Past is logistically possible, the full cost of it will be taken from the fund and any left over monies will be donated to the designated charities. Once this fund is closed and donations are stopped, we will send the money via bank transfer or cheque, which will be published and made fully transparent for all to see. Every penny will be accounted for and a paper trail will be shown for each donations to our chosen charities.
The charities will include the Erskine Charity and the Emmie Smillie Charity foundation - both causes all bears can get behind. Below is some information on each of these.
The Emmie Smillie Charity Foundation, is a cancer focused charity formed by the Smillie Family, as Trustees, in 2016. The Foundation was formally registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) at 15th March 2017. What the ESCF hopes to achieve is the personal motivation of individuals, Local Companies and Local Organisation, to join us collectively in this effort to try and deal with Cancer more effectively. Together we can assist in the fight against this totally indiscriminate disease which can attack anyone, anywhere, anytime. Our aims and objectives are focused on assisting financially local Cancer related organisations, Hospices and Palliative Care Homes by raising funds through financial donations, sponsored events, organised social and sporting events and through the generous support from the People and Businesses of Glasgow. Our club are long-time friends of the Smillie family and are supporters of the foundation given all the charity work they do for extremely worthwhile causes throughout the east end of Glasgow.

The Erskine Charity foundation provides unrivalled support to veterans in Scotland, through four care homes and a Veterans Village, comprising of 44 cottages, an Activity Centre, five Assisted Living Apartments and 24 Single Living Apartments (currently under construction). For veterans who need help to begin the next chapter of their lives, Erskine offers social, recreation and training facilities at the Activity Centre, single and family accommodation and employment opportunities in partnership with Scotland Bravest Manufacturing Co.- all within a Veterans Village setting supporting veterans of all ages.
