Flux’s FIP Fight Fund

Current Need as of 1/14: vials of FIP treatment are higher as he's gained weight, requiring a higher concentrate, but we can get a little more than 3 days worth. $95 each and last roughly 3 days. Bloodwork was run in the at vets office and used up money forb2 vials.

This is for my buddy Flux. He's 10 years old and has been through a lot with me. Last year, he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, easily treatable. They thought he had a blood clot, so he gets a blood thinner too. After numerous trips to the emergency vet this summer, in which he spent the night in an oxygen chamber, Flux was diagnosed with asthma. It took several rounds of oxygen bouncing him back to finally get the diagnosis. At the same time, I had another cat, my bottle baby Calliope, end up needing an emergency spay, which was stressful enough on her to cause her to develop FIP. I knew from having FIP cats in the past, that there was now a treatment. An expensive one. But I didn't hesitate, and found the medicine and started on 84 daily injections(this puts final injection at March 10, 2021). There's 84 days of observation afterwards, after which she is considered cured. Her cure date, if all goes well, is Thanksgiving day. I spent a lot treating her, on top of her surgery, and Flux's visits. I also have other pet cats and permanent fosters I've rescued, and feed ferals and strays too. But now, I'm hit with the horrible realization that Flux has developed FIP. Diagnosed Monday November 16th, I immediately started him on GS that I had left from treating Calliope.

This medicine is not cheap, and though his normal daily meds are low cost, the bills from this summer have emptied most of my funds. Much went on credit. I simply don't have enough after paying on their bills, to cover his FIP treatments. Fortunately, I have access to a slightly cheaper brand than Calliope was on, but it's $75 a vial. The treatment goes for 84 days, with 4 trips to the vet for bloodwork (CBC w/ chem17) to see how he is responding to it. In the first week, he had been bad enough off to need a blood transfusion, which helped greatly. But now I'm starting to see improvement from the GS.

I've helped many cats over the years, and many were not even mine. When Flux was born to my cat Selene, I didn't expect to keep him. He grew on me quickly, and showed me he wanted to stay when he leaped to me from an interested adopter. He helped me through a dark time, and I want to help him through his own dark days.
