SHORT STORY

Hi, my name is Agustin Flowalistik, I'm a graphic and product designer specialized in 3D printing and laser cutting. During the past three years I've been sharing all my projects with the community for free, but my old laptop is not properly working anymore and I've had to stop developing some projects.

I'm raising funds to upgrade my old equipment, and in exchange I will develop all the projects (check the list below) and share them for free, being all of them open-source and with all the source files available.

Thank you for taking your time to read this, and even if you cannot contribute, I would really appreciate it if you could share this with any friends that might be interested.

NOT SO SHORT STORY

Hi everyone,

My name is Agustin Flowalistik, and I'm a graphic and product designer who fell in love with 3D printing and open-source three years ago. Before telling you my story, I want to thank you for taking your time to read this and I also want to thank the open-source and 3D printing community for having taught me so much.

My story

During the past three years I've been creating and sharing my designs for free. Despite not having any direct economical support, I've managed to keep creating content for the community.

I started as a curious design student assembling a 3D printer and researching about 3D printing limitations, which led to the low-poly designs. After focusing on the technological aspect, I worked on different product design projects focused on 3D printing, and in 2016 I have started researching in laser cutting and multi-extrusion 3D printing.

All the information I've gathered and all my designs have been shared with the community that inspired me to become the designer I'm today. I still have a lot to learn and share, and that's the reason why I am asking for your support.

The problem

During the past five years I've managed to use a student laptop (low voltage Intel i3, 4gb RAM, no GPU) to do all the 3D modelling, photo editing, rendering, 3D printing slicing, graphic design and research.

I've managed to use it having battery, keyboard, screen and cooling issues, but during the last 6 months, researching and designing with multi-extrusion and laser cutting, my laptop hasn't been able to handle the design programs due to the lack of processing power (designing models with +500 polygons, no simple dual extrusion 3D slicing, no laser cutting...). Because of this, I've been unable to progress in different design projects I wanted to share months ago.

Hoy you can participate

Having just graduated and not receiving any direct economical support for the designs I share, I need your help in order to be able to continue creating and sharing all my designs with everyone.

I'm looking for 1500€ that will be invested in a new laptop and equipment. After exhaustive research and considering my needs (3D modelling, graphic design, illustration, photo editing, high mobility, to use 24/7, robust) I think the best purchase would be a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i5, 8gb RAM, although this is not a final decision. In case I got any more donations than necessary, it would all be invested in more equipment and material for the projects I'm working on (time-lapse equipment, filament, software licenses, laser cutting supplies, electronics...).

 What I offer you

I have a long list of projects and ideas I'd love to develop, and with your support I will be able to share the following projects. You will find a link to each project at the end of the description.

- Multi and dual extrusion version of all my Low-Poly Pokemon

- Multi and dual extrusion version of the Retro Character Collection

- Dual extrusion version of the Animal Ring set

- Multi and dual extrusion version of the Halloween mask collection

- If funded before the new Star Wars premiere: new Low-Poly R2D2 and C3PO

- Multi and dual extrusion version of the Low-Poly Star Wars figurines

- Open-source affordable CoreXY conversion for old Prusa i3 (in development)

- Open-source designer pen plotter (in development)

- Campbell Planter adapter for different can sizes

- New Lampe lamp screen designs and adapter for E14 and E27 light bulbs

As I'm asking for your support in such a direct way, I want to offer you something that really shows my commitment, and I'm happy to say:

I WILL PUBLISH THE SOURCE FILES OF ALL THE NEW DESIGNS.

I'm not talking about high quality STL or EPS files, but the original ones I work with. This way, anyone will be able to easily edit any of my new multi extrusion Low-Poly Pokemon or CoreXY 3D printer design with no problem. All the source files will be published for free under Creative Commons license.

Rewards

I'm also offering a 151 (like the first Pokemon) numbered limited edition of some of my low-poly art as reward. The 3D prints will be done using unique numbered files (#001 to #151) and high quality wood or iron exotic filaments provided by Colorfabb and Proto-Pasta for my projects. The models will be random numbered designs available in my portfolio.

15€ - Get 1 limited Edition Low-Poly design
25€ - Get 2 limited Edition Low-Poly design
55€ - Get 5 limited Edition Low-Poly design
40€ - Get MissingNo
45€ - Get limited Edition #151
50€ - Get limited Edition #001

Notice: worldwide shipping is included (unregistered priority air mail). The design and filament material will be random, so unfortunately it cannot be chosen.

Thank you very much

Thank you for taking your time to read this, and even if you cannot contribute, I would really appreciate it if you could share this with any friends that might be interested. If you have donated or shared my story, be sure that all that support will help me keep creating and sharing my designs for a long time!
