Florence expenses

My name is Ashley Oliver and I am a resident of Newbern North Carolina. My home has been destroyed by the recent hurricane Florence. On the morning of Thursday September 13, Me, my boyfriend of 5 years, his mom, our dog, and two cats all piled in my tiny car and evacuated to Virginia to flee from the storm at my mothers house. Sunday we came back to New Bern rejoicing at the sight of our home being accessible! (we had received photos of our street from a friend who works for the city that showed our street looking like a river) As soon as we opened the door however our rejoicing quickly turned to despair as we saw our worst fears come true. Our home had had water that would have been knee height inside! There were bugs and spiders, even water moccasins inside! Our clothes, shoes, furniture, appliances, everything we owned had been destroyed! We all looked at each other in disbelief and shock. The reality of the situation finally set in. Our home was uninhabitable and we had nowhere to stay. We where able to find a hotel room in Greenville (an hour away) after having already driven 4 1/2 hrs from Virginia in rough rain. We don’t know where we will sleep tomorrow night considering asking someone to take all 3 of us and our animals in is a lot to request of someone! We are also going to have a major struggle to continue to pay for the gas, food, and lodging for this undetermined amount time ahead of us. If you find it in your heart to help us during our time of need my family and I will be forever greatful! Every little bit counts and would be an enormous help to us! Every penny donated to us will be used to pay for hotels for the 3 of us to stay in, for food, and for gas to help us get to and from our home to our hotel (which has been about an hour drive everyday). We will also be using the donations to help us replace our belongings that where destroyed seeing as our insurance does not cover any of our personal property (clothes, appliances, furniture, dishes, etc...). All donations will come directly to me and will be used in the manner described above. For those of you in the same situation as us stay strong! If we come together we can get through this and build a stronger, better community in the process! Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, donations, and shares!
