Donation protected
Bloomington Kerala Forum (BKF), an Illinois based non-profit organization is conducting a fundraiser with a goal of collecting $30,000 towards the victims of the Kerala Floods. BKF will be contributing to the "Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund" to distribute the funds.

As a murderous monsoon and catastrophic floods savaged Kerala claiming 483 lives and 14 people are missing, the state of Kerala plunged deeper into misery with hospitals facing shortage of oxygen and fuel stations running dry, officials said. The deadliest deluge in close to a century since August 8, and dealt a body blow to the scenic state, wrecking its tourism industry, destroying standing crops in thousands of hectares and inflicting huge damage to infrastructure.

A total of 10,28,000 people including women, toddlers and senior citizens are being shifted to 3274 relief camps across the state. 33 dams across Kerala have been opened, following incessant rain since late Tuesday. The public transport system collapsed in many parts of central Kerala

16 teams of Army, 42 teams of Navy and 58 teams of NDRF are currently involved in rescue and aid operations. Army, Navy and the Indian Air Force, the Coast Guard and the National Disaster Response Force have been asked to mobilize additional manpower, boats and helicopters to scale up the rescue and relief operations.

Kerala, known as God's Own Country for its natural landscape and pristine scenery requires all the help it can get to overcome this devastating flood considered the worst in 100 years.

Please help with your generous donations to save lives and provide the much needed relief to the displaced people.
