Flood Support for Lisa from Lismore

Hi,

My name is Lisa and I, like many others, have lost all my personal belongings, furniture and sanity in the floods that have devastated Lismore and the Northern Rivers in the past 2 weeks. I escaped the floods with my 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 t-shirts and a pair of yoga pants…

While I have walked away with the most important things – my family (and my yoga pants!!) every house in my street has the same pile of contents on their lawn as mine depicted below. No one has power yet and all you can hear all day is the sound of people pulling off their walls, hosing off a tonne of mud and tossing every single possession on their own trash heap.

The pile shown here was on day one, it’s probably 5 times larger now but I don’t have a phone charger or power so my phone goes flat constantly and I can’t take an updated photo.

I have so many heartwarming stories and feel so very fortunate for the dozens of people who have filed through to help!! At the close of each day when I can barely walk, I meet my neighbours in the middle of the road for a beer (courtesy of the mobile beer wagon from Brisbane) and chat before we head off to sleep on a friend’s lounge or spare bed with a handful of salvaged clothes to grab a fitful few hours of sleep before returning the next day to continue the demolition!!

While I know I am not alone in this, due to unfeasible costs, I didn’t have any flood insurance, so this page has been set up in the hope of raising some funds to make our home habitable again and to help ease the financial stress of recovery after this disaster.

It’s still hard to fathom that I’ve lost everything…
