Hurricane Harvey has had a devastating effect on our coworkers who live and work in Southeast Texas and Western Louisiana. Many of you have learned of heartbreaking situations of how the storm has impacted some of our employees. However, the outpouring of concern expressed by so many of you regarding the safety and well-being of our coworkers has been an inspiration. Several employees have asked how they can make donations or volunteer to assist our coworkers.
The Floworks Executive Leadership Team is working on a number of initiatives to provide support to our employees. The needs of the affected are varied and complex. Some have immediate needs including money, food, clothing, lodging. Others have longer term needs. We are exploring a variety of alternatives which will address some of these needs.
Our first initiative is to establish a fund to provide relief to employees who have been affected by the flood. In order to get the fund off the ground, Frank A. Riddick, our CEO, will match all donations up to $10,000. Other members of the Executive Leadership Team have expressed their plans to contribute. Suppliers and customers are also encouraged to contribute to our fund. All other employees that are in a position to contribute are being encouraged to do so as well.
As you can imagine, our support initiatives will require solid planning and execution to provide the assistance we desire. We will communicate other initiatives as planning takes shape.
Please keep our employees and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. This tragic situation will not be resolved overnight, but, with your support, we will get through this.
The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to regular, full-time Floworks employees who incurred losses due to tropical storm Harvey and now need money for food, medication, lodging, transportation, etc. The distributions will be made to employees who complete a relief request form which will be reviewed by a committee comprised of Executive Leadership Team members. The committee will determine the distribution award amounts which will be made via payroll direct deposit. The maximum total distribution award amount any employee may receive is $1,000.
