Flood Recovery For Miss Cora

Miss Cora is full of love and light. You can tell it from her smile and the twinkle in her eyes. She lives by herself in River Plantation, a neighborhood of Conroe, Texas that was affected by Hurricane Harvey.  She has lived there over 20 years and never had any flooding... but this time was different. Her entire 1st floor is a loss... all of her furniture, the cedar chest her belated husband Dick made for her... everything.  Things are things, but sometimes they hold some  dear memories. I can understand how losing that cedar chest is so painful for her.

Dick was a great man. In 2007 my son was diagnosed with a tumor the size of his fist behind his nose... stage 3 borerline stage 4 Burkitt's Lymphoma.  Dick was also battling cancer at the time. Everytime I saw him, he asked about Carson and made sure I knew what he was praying for.  Today my son is well and completely cancer free. Dick passed in December 2010. He was known for his big heart and made an everlasting impression on me.

Miss Cora is an inspiration. She has an amazing ability to see the good in all situations and stay positive, even amidst this destruction to her home.  She does not have any family locally, and I want to show her the same compassion Dick showed me and my family.
