My name is Colleen Moultry and I am a friend of Daphene Morris.
The Morris Family lost everything when Hurricane Florence dumped historic amounts of rain on their town in Leland,NC. They had purchased their dream home in Stoney Creek Plantation 4 years ago this month. It took lots of blood,sweat and tears for them to purchase this beautiful home to raise their 3 daughters in. Prior to this, they lived in a single wide trailer for 16 years.
Although they have not been able to return home to assess the damage, they do know that the water is at least up to the 2nd floor of their house.Daphene heeded the warning of the local meteorologists and evacuated with the girls last minute. They left with the family dog, backpacks filled with clothes and their important papers. They did not have flood insurance because their area is not flood prone. Meteorologists are calling this a “500 year flood”.
They are currently safe and staying with family in the area. Daphene has already been in touch with FEMA and several other agencies but she knows it will be slow going to start the recovery process. Any funds raised will be used towards basic items they may need, clothes, temporary housing and items to help salvage their house if that is even possible.
Brian and Daphene are honest, good-hearted, hard working people. They do not live outside their means and they always help others when they can. I know that they would really appreciate anything you could give and I know that once they are back in their feet, they will pay this good deed forward to others who may need a helping hand.
