Flo Béo - First Women to Swim The Shannon

Donation protected
Thank you so much for Considering to Fund us, Here's our Story,

We are a group of ordinary women from Leitrim who are planning to be the first ladies  to swim the length of the beautiful River Shannon in August 2019. Yes! Starting at the bridge in Dowra in Cavan and finishing at Arthurs Quay in Limerick City. We will be doing this event over the month of August. Flo Beo is our concept name, which means ‘the living flow’ and represents the flow of life in each of us and being fulfilled in the present moment as truly a way of living. Being ‘in flow’ helps enrich mental and physical wellbeing.

We were inspired by our youngest Swimmer member Heather Maxwell, aged 20, who suggested to Swim the Shannon with her mother Eileen in their Kitchen one afternoon, whilst overlooking the Shannon.  Over a cup of Tea, they agreed!!. Heather & team are swimming to raise awareness for Mental Health - A lust for life and the Irish Cancer Society. I am sure you are aware of Family, Friends and work Friends, who have suffered and had to engage with theses Charities. We would ask you to please support in whatever way you can to promote a message of mental and physical well-being throughout our swim journey and fundraise for A Lust for Life and the Irish Cancer Society, raising vital funds to enable these marvelous organizations to continue their excellent and important work.

Only two other men have swam the Shannon, American, Dean Hall in 2017 and the first Irish man Paddy McDonnell in 2018, both of whom were kind enough to come and meet us in Carrick on Shannon when our dream of swimming the River Shannon emerged in late 2018.

We are a strong and capable team of swimmers with a solid open water swimming background as members of Lough Key Triathlon Club.  We have completed many open water swims including Swim Lough Rynn, Metal Man Series, Glencar Lough Swim, & Lough Mask.  We are on track with our current swim training plan and working with our world-renowned training partner Australian Company, ‘Swim Smooth’ who are supporting us with our endurance swim program. The prospect of swimming the 260km distance is a great challenge for us, one we are totally relishing. We want this 3/4 week Event to go down in History. Also helping Friends and Families who are going through any Health Issues.

Fló Beo event is not a one day Event but a 3/4 week Event, so there is a lot of  Costs involved, which we may have to pay from our Go fund Page. We have a number of Sponsors already, so we may not.  We have a accountant on our Committee who will keep our Accounts in order. He will arrange a Break Down of  our Income & Expenditure from our Sponsors, Go Fund me page, Costs and we promise that all monies left over will be spilt to both our Charities.

If you are a Business or if you are interested in Sponsoring us or have any other queries please feel free to contact Jo O'Brien, who is on our Committee at   [email redacted] or PM us on our Page Fló Beo Shannon Swim. Follow our Journey on our Facebook Page

Kindest regards
