DETROIT!! It’s that time again!! A time to redirect the energy to create more synergy for ourselves and our community! In the meantime as we approach our 4th festival event the second weekend in September, we’re raising monies to ensure that we can support our lineup of artist, healers, staff, and to keep our event FREE! Any and every donation will help! Join in and help us achieve our goal to raise the value for ourselves and our culture! ABOUT FTS 529:
Flip the Switch 529 is an ongoing project that embarked in response to COVID-19 and the political/ social state of our country. Flip the Switch 529 envisions a world where artists and healers nurture connections through cultural exchange and ritual, while raising the collective consciousness of our global community.
Our ambitions are to redirect the negative social energies/ tensions. By flipping this switch, we highlight creatives, artists, youth, elders, entrepreneurs, and visionaries. Together we cultivate intergenerational creative spaces, perform, share our stories, and engage traditions known to our African, Indigenous and futuristic community, while honoring ourselves and our land.
Participants of these collective healing sessions receive the opportunity to explore various forms of art such as drawing, painting, creating fashion, learning traditional African music and dancing, playing instruments, and performing. By fusing all of these art forms and practices together, we foster a space for creativity, craftsmanship, and healing.
