<div>Jermaine and Jamel Flemming are 39-year-old identical twins who were diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) about six years ago. FSGS is a rare type of kidney disease that causes scarring in the filters of the kidneys, and is the leading nephrotic syndrome found in Black and Hispanic communities.

<div>Earlier this year the Flemmings learned their FSGS advanced to late-stage kidney failure resulting in both brothers needing a kidney transplant. Jamel, the younger twin, has already begun weekly dialysis treatments. As former athletes who understand the necessity of maintaining their health for success, they have taken many precautions to stall the advancement of their condition. However, their main goal is to secure a viable donor and raise visibility around their diagnosis.

<div>The Flemmings are integral to the small, Lamar, South Carolina, community where they are from and in turn the community has rallied around them so they continue to be the sons, fathers and husbands they wish to be in their new normal.
