FLASH, FLOAT, FALL

Donation protected

Emily Conklin's play FLASH, FLOAT, FALL has been selected to be premiered at the New Jersey Fringe Festival on August 4th-6th! But we need YOUR help to produce this exciting new work.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

Two hopeful individuals have their lives changed forever in a single flash. Following their traumatic experiences, both are sent spiraling on a search for clarity and solutions.  But what are the consequences if there is no solution? FLASH, FLOAT, FALL combines traditional theatrical storytelling with spoken word poetry and dance to challenge the audience to question how we as individuals and as a community can spark discussion and change.

ABOUT US:

Emily Conklin
(Playwright) and Joshua Schnetzer (Director) are two New Jersey based theatre-makers with a passion for art and activism. Both graduates of Kean University’s Theatre Conservatory, they seek to create theatre that will prompt community conversations and promote social change.

WHAT WE NEED:

While the Fringe Festival is providing the venue and advertising, the production costs are our responsibility to fundraise. We need to raise $3,000 to pay for sets, costumes, lighting, sound, props, and most importantly paying the designers, actors, and production staff, who will bring this show to life.

THE IMPACT:

The goal of this production is to ignite a community conversation about sexual assault, consent, and the experiences of survivors. Survivors of sexual assault have a long history of being ignored, explained away, and blamed. It is difficult for a person who has never been violated to comprehend the life-altering experiences of survivors. But, it is our responsibility as theatre-makers to reach out across the divide to find what connects us.

To achieve this, FLASH, FLOAT, FALL will include post-show discussions that follow every performance. For each discussion, a counselor, a survivor and a sexual health educator will lead the audience and artists in conversation about the themes and issues of the play. By helping unpack the experience of FLASH, FLOAT, FALL, we will equip our audience with the tools to find more information and educate others in their communities.

Take Action:

We cannot do this with out YOU! Your donation will go directly to funding this production and to the betterment of the greater New Jersey Community. No donation is too small and every little bit helps.
