I am a young Lebanese woman and student who’s been struggling to make a living for the past few years.
The hardest part was not having a stable place to stay, and even being homeless for some nights. Someone else would run to their family for support, but I have no one to go to where I can be supported and feel loved and safe. Instead, sometimes I had to go to the extreme and put myself in danger, just to make ends meet.
I have suffered extremely traumatic experiences since I was only eight years old. All this resulted in mental illnesses that require continuous therapy, I also suffer from poor physical health that needs close monitoring. On top of all that, a few months ago, I suffered the consequences of the 4th of August Beirut explosion, and this only made things a lot worse and impossible to bear.
I am now in danger under horrible living conditions, wondering if I’ll have food in my stomach the next day or not. I lost everything including my education, my dignity, my wellbeing and so much more.
I was recently able to find a small job, with a very small income (approx. 100$/Month) that would cover basic food supplies for a maximum of 2 weeks. I would still need to cover rent and other expenses.
I am not trying to rely on people’s help for the rest of my life, so this fundraiser will be only giving me financial aid that will allow me to move to a safer place and be able to support myself for 1 or 1.5 years ahead, before I am able to get up on my feet all by myself, and leave Beirut to another place, and a community that I can call my safe home.
With the money funded, I will
- Immediately pay all debts that I have.
- Cover urgent medical bills (Tests, medication and therapy)
- Pay rent for at least 1 year ahead in a safer place (in Lebanon month-to-month rentals don’t exist)
- Cover food supplies and other necessities.
- Be able to finish my education
I will also give updates on my living conditions after I hopefully get funded.
