Sourcing protective equipment against COVID-19
We are raising money for charities in urgent need of PPE supplies (surgical masks, hygiene gels, disposable aprons, …) for their staff and services. All the funds we raise will be used to buy PPE supplies and distribute them to the organisations registered on SOS-supplies.com
How we started
My name is Manoj Varsani . I am CEO of the fintech company Hammock (usehammock.com) and I volunteer as chairman of the charity Harrow Carers . Together with the CEO at Harrow Carers, Charmian Boyd we recently faced a big challenge in sourcing protective equipment to support our carers. We were lucky to find the supplies we needed, but our experience made me realise how this issue must have been affecting many organisations across the UK.
I decided I wanted to help them, so I got the team from my company, Hammock, involved and in less than 24 hours we set up SOS-Supplies. com to help provide stock for those who most need it.
What we are doing
We are sourcing distributors who have supplies in stock and matching them with charities and companies who need them. We are currently working with more than 70 organisations in the UK and our network expands every day.
We only accept suppliers who are selling it at cost price or a reasonable price. We are also hoping some suppliers will be able to donate supplies for free. Please register here if you are a distributor.
What we will do with your donation
The money raised with this campaign will be distributed to charities who register on the SOS-Supplies.com website and will be used towards PPE orders.
This is a real chance for you to make a difference. One box of surgical masks can cost anything between £2.99(cost price) to £30.
Unfortunately many distributors, pharmacies and shops are taking advantage of the shortage of stock. I recently found a significant supplier selling surgical disposal masks at £80 +vat each. Now is not the time to be profiteering.
