Save Rusky

Rusky is almost a year old. He is my son's dog. He was on his usual walk to the creek yesterday when he unexpectedly took off on his own adventure and ignored commands to return. He found his way to Hwy 20 and ran out in front of a large passenger truck. By the grace of God the driver stopped to help my son. He drove Rusky to the vet right away and of course, called mom. I went there immediately and the vet politely hinted at the fact that we should say our goodbyes. The tears flowed nonstop. They wheeled Rusky out to us to say goodbye and he immediately recognized his family and started Husky talking to us. My son gave him permission to go to dog heaven if he needed too. This precious dog loves life like no other and he wasn't ready to go. We stayed with him all day and then transferred him to the emergency hospital. He made it through the night with a collapsed lung and continues to fight to heal a hole in that lung. We can't give up hope as he seems to continue to improve. It will be a long road ahead. Anyway, the two days costs have added up quickly and he isn't getting out today, or until the lung heals, which they are optimistic about. If, by the grace of God, we have any left over money that is raised it will go directly to Mickey's Chance animal rescue, an organization dear to our hearts. Anything will help, my son does not have this kind of money but he sure does love his "son" Rusky.
