Humphrey’s Medical Bills

Hi everyone. I’m chelsea and I’m a college student in Arizona. I got my cat, Humphrey, mid June of this year. He has a few enlarged organs but was promised an excellent quality of life and a lot more years. No special diet and no medications. In the two and a half months I’ve had Humphrey he has become a gigantic part of my life. He is my emotional support animal and has the perfect temperament to be a therapy cat and to bring comfort to humans. I feel like he has a lot more life left to live.

Lately he has had some bloating which has actually been determined to be abdominal fluid. He had 143 mL drained the other day. Given his symptoms, it is very likely that he has FIP, feline infectious peritonitis. This is a fast-acting fatal illness if not QUICKLY treated. He will be going to the vet tomorrow for final tests. If this is not FIP, it is likely liver failure, which means more vet visits and treatments.

Unfortunately, I do not have the immediate funds to make this happen. I fully intended to save over time to afford his expenses but was not expecting to be hit with this within the first three months of having him. If you have anything to spare, I would really appreciate it as time is of the essence and I simply can’t make it happen. My vet says since most people can’t afford the treatment, they usually trust drain the abdomen every 14 days until they pass. I would hate for that to be Humphrey’s future without giving it a shot.

I hate to do this, but I am desperate. This cat has a big hold on my heart. He follows me around the house, sleeps with me at night, and has made every dog person fall in love. I’d be devastated if I lost him so soon.
