Hello, everyone! My name is Becka and I am from Edmonton, AB, Canada. My long-term and long-distance partner, Taylor, is an aspiring opera singer who recently finished the first year of his Master’s Degree at the University of Victoria while residing in British Columbia, Canada.
In July, just before beginning his second year of school, Taylor experienced a startling fainting incident that left him with three front teeth knocked out and a broken nose. Unfortunately, he has to take a year of medical leave from school in order to get surgery and recover and, therefore, is also left with some hefty dental bills that will not be covered by insurance.
Because Taylor had to turn down work and singing gigs for the sake of recovering in the month after his incident while paying for medical appointments alongside his normal living expenses, he was left in a financial deficit before even coming home to Edmonton. Thankfully, now that he is mostly recovered and awaiting his surgery, he does have some work here in Edmonton for the year. However, this will essentially only cover basic living expenses and not medical.
We are asking for your help in assisting Taylor through this unexpected setback in his studies and career. If you feel so inclined to help us out with your financial support, these funds will be going directly towards Taylor’s medical bills which include appointment costs, x-rays, implant placements, prosthetics, and medical facility fees.
Asking for money isn’t something that either of us likes to do, being the stubborn and independent people that we are, but at this point it seems to be our only option. Taylor has worked very hard at his singing career for as long as I have known him. We want to ensure he gets the best care possible so that he can be back at school making beautiful sounds to the best of his abilities without this extra burden of financial stress on top of student loans.
We completely understand that you may also not be in a position that enables you to give a lot, but every bit helps and we are extremely appreciative of every dollar that is contributed be it a $5 or $50 donation. Taylor’s first of three procedures is scheduled for December 24th and the entire process will take him into the late summer months. Should everything go as planned, his face will be restored in time for school in September.
