It has been determined that Mike needs surgery to remove a big section of his large intestine due to chronic diverticulitus. We are hopeful that this surgery will eliminate his daily pain and suffering, and will allow him to get back to work and a normal life after 5+ years....
Mike's surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, September 26th at Shawnee Mission Hospital. It is an inpatient procedure so he will need to be in the hospital for 2-4 days following surgery for doctors to monitor the healing process.
Unfortunately another 40% of costs are required upfront before Mike can even check in for the procedure, so again we are reaching out to our friends and family with making sure he gets this surgery. Every small contribution helps and is appreciated greatly, including encouraging words and kind thoughts. Please help us end Huck's pain and suffering!

THANK YOU everyone for helping us cover the costs for Mike's tests. Words cannot express how thankful we are. Unfortunately, the most important part is yet to come. The surgery needed will still require a hefty out of pocket cost. The amount is still unknown but will keep everyone updated as soon we get the information.
As many of you know, Mike has been dealing with 4+ years of turbulent health with no answers. He has lost over 80 pounds during this time and his health has only declined. He has been passed around from doctor to doctor with no diagnosis and lost several jobs due to missing work because of severe pain, nausea, and vomiting. As you can imagine, this has taken a toll on his physical and mental health - with no solution to the problem in sight.
He just got approved for short-term disability and has finally found a surgeon that has identified that he needs a large part of his large intestine removed to lead a semi-normal life and has ordered CT scans and colonoscopy to make sure there are no other underlying issues. 2 days before his procedure, the hospital called needing a 40% down payment before the procedure can be completed - totaling $950.
Without these procedures there is no end in sight. Mike and myself hate asking for help and this is a last resort. Please help me raise money to go towards his procedure so we can finally get this man on a path towards a healthy and normal life and on the road to recovery.
