Send Fito to BAQ2018 & Lima2019

Hello, world!  I'm Fito Western, and I've been fencing since I was 11 years old.  I've represented the Dominican Republic in more than 30 competitions, where I was Central American Junior Bi-Champion in 2008, Central American and Caribbean Champion in 2009, and bronze medal winner in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz in 2014. 
In 2013, I decided to move to the United States to pursue my dream of fencing at the highest possible level.  I've also been lucky to be able to coach youth fencing, to help share both the skills I've developed, and my love of the sport with the next generation of fencers. 

I currently coach for Tim Morehouse Fencing Club and at Horace Mann School, where I get to work with young fencers between the ages of 8 and 18. It's a real treat to be able to work with such talented young people, and the response from parents and peers alike has been incredible.




The next step on my journey is to begin competing at the international level, with an eye on placing for the Olympics.   Though it's been incredible to be able to focus on working with young people for the last two years, I'm very excited to now be representing Puerto Rico in the international circuit.  I won the 2016 National Championship in Puerto Rico, and I took the gold medal in the Iberoamerican Championship in Cancun in 2017. 


Fencing is my life, and I'm so delighted to be able to take my passion to the next level.  But I need your help!

In order to register for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla in 2018 (BAQ2018) and the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019, I need to compete at Trophée Luxardo,Grand Prix Seoul, Tournoi satellite sabre masculin in Reykjavik,  Grand Prix Moscow ,Villa de Madrid, Summer National in St. Louis MO and Pan American Championship in La Havana, Cuba.  In order to do this, I need to  raise 7,000 dollars (as described further below).  The next competition on the circuit is the Luxzardo Men's Sabre World Cup in Padova, Italy at the end of this month.
