Fishers of Men - Haiti Trip 2013

And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."   Matthew 4:19

Headed to Haiti with the ministry, Haitians Helping Haitians. It's amazing how God will be using the two things that I love (Fly Fishing and soccer) as a way to minister to others. I will be spending part of my time on an island called La Gonave (which means the Great Emptiness) which is a small town where there are no bathroom facilities or ministry homes, making it difficult for missionaries to help the people in these communities. I will have an opportunity to talk about Jesus to people who have never heard of His name. I am excited about what God will be doing.

While on the island, I will be doing the following:
- Training Haitian men on how to fish and more importantly, share with them about Jesus, the Great Fisherman.
- Setting up soccer (futbol) camps and games for the young children on the island. Soccer is a great way to connect to a community.
- Holding church services in an abandoned building and preaching the gospel in the evenings. 

- Ministering to the Haitian people and share with them the love of Christ.

I will be in Port au Prince the last two days. The plan is to visit both a prison and mental hospital. This will be an opportunity to share the Word of God and His love with those who are forgotten.

The funds will be used for not only for my travel expenses, but also for many supplies such as soccer equipment (ie balls and uniforms), fishing equipment and most importantly, bibles in Creole.

While praying about this trip, I was quickly reminded of Isaiah 6:8, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
