First Responder/Single Mom of Twins Needs Help

There’s a first responder that is in need of some help.  Her name is Buffy and she has been a police officer for fifteen years.  As a first responder she is often the first one to arrive during an emergency situation.  We recognize that after the devastating fires in Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino County there are many people in need of help.  So it is with a heavy heart, that we send this out on behalf of Buffy and her children.  Buffy is hard working, courageous and has amazing pride.  Buffy is a single mother raising two eight year old boys.  Buffy recently lost her home and had to leave the only residence her kids ever knew.  She was able to find a temporary place to move into, so she and the boys were not homeless.

Buffy’s father recently passed and her mother, who lives out of state, is not in a position to help the family.  Buffy has no immediate family that can provide assistance.  Buffy has been working on her own, as a single mother, to raise her two eight year old twins. She is struggling to provide daycare, keep a roof over their heads and food on the table; not to mention the numerous other expenses that come with life.  She tried several different times to work with the mortgage company but it was not successful.  Buffy is extremely private and was ashamed and embarrassed of her circumstance.  She waited until time ran out. She now realizes that everyone needs some help from time to time and is open to accepting it.  Unfortunately, Buffy like many others in our society has fallen on tough times and needs our help.

Buffy has a sitter arrive at her home at 4:20 am to sit with the boys, get them ready for school and then drive them to school. Buffy starts work at 5am and drives to San Rafael from Sonoma County.  Her shift ends at 5pm, adding on the commute time she arrives home around 6:15 pm.  Her boys get out of school at 3 pm so the sitter picks them up and watches them until she gets home around 6:15 pm. Buffy is gone for 14 hours a day when working.  She is currently paying $1600 a month in daycare alone, leaving her in the red monthly after paying bills. We are currently looking for daycare programs for after school so Buffy could pick the boys up and not have to pay someone.  A program free of cost is very difficult to find, but it would help with the after school daycare decreasing the cost.  We are asking people to find it in their hearts to help Buffy by donating what they can.  The money is going to be used to help with a down payment for suitable housing, assist with daycare needs, and provide clothing and school supplies for the boys. With some additional daycare it would free Buffy up to work some extra shifts on overtime to make some additional money.

Even with all this going, Buffy continues to arrive at work every morning to help others.  Please find it in your hearts to donate what you can so we can show this amazing police officer/single mother that we care.  Any amount is appreciated. Thank you very much for your consideration, and we sincerely wish you and your family a happy holiday season.
