First Friday Community Events

Hi folks,

Andy Herr here. I have been working with Althea Freeman-Miller, the Vineyard Haven Business Association, and a growing team of volunteer coordinators and supporters to bring free community events to the public since 2017. These events include live music, dance and entertainment, local artists selling their work and demonstrating, a variety of local food and beverages, all centered within the year-round town we love, Vineyard Haven.

In our endeavors to provide monetary support for the performing artists who grace us with their participation, the team and I have spent countless unpaid hours seeking funding. In the past, we have had some success in this through business endorsements, vendor fees, various cultural grants, creative merchandise sales, and a successful fundraiser I ran in 2019.

I am asking again for your support to bridge the gap and meet our funding needs, so we can continue producing and growing this series of healthy local community gatherings. We hope this event continues to evolve into a defining element of the town of Vineyard Haven for all to enjoy, friendly to families and folks of all ages and walks of life. Beyond our need to compensate the creative individuals that help provide a nexus for these activities, we also have ancillary production costs like banners, signs, traffic cones, advertising and outreach, etc. We are still navigating the challenging landscape of establishing an independent 501c3 and seeking more extensive sources of sponsorship and grants. In the meantime, we are asking you to honor all the work everyone has put in over the years by donating if you are able.
