First Documented Swim From Italy to Albania 70km

Hi everyone,

I am very excited to announce that in 2023 I will attempt to do the first documented swim from Italy to Albania! 70km! The date is not currently set, but the aim is sometime between July and August.

My grandfather was Albanian and I still have family there. As an Australian woman with Albanian heritage, it will be very special to me to be the first person to achieve this, and to be greeted by my family when I arrive on the beach in Albania.

In 2022 I swam 58km across Lake Geneva in 25 hours and 19 mins non-stop specifically to prepare for the 2023 Italy to Albania crossing. It is a similar distance, but in lake conditions so a good warm-up. I am feeling ready to go!

Organising a crossing that is off the beaten track like this one involves more organising and support than my previous swims to ensure it is a safe and successful swim. It requires travel, boat hire, skippers, observers and support people. For this reason, I am holding a Go Fund Me.

As I saw from my Lake Geneva swim, an undertaking like this is much more exciting and motivating when a community of people is involved. I am delighted to invite you to come along with me on this journey, I promise it will not be dull!
