Firepan Korean BBQ Worker Relief Fund

Our restaurant opened on April 15, 2019. We are the first location of what was supposed to be many. Right now, we cannot even afford rent. Our restaurant was in the process of celebrating our one-year anniversary, but due to current circumstances, we have closed our doors since March 20th. We don’t know how long this will last. 

My biggest concern are for my employees. I have a staff of 20 people. Some of them have children or family to provide for. Some of them have loans, bills, etc. that they no longer can pay. Many of the employees are not eligible for financial aid/other benefits. We do not know how long our doors will stay closed, and opening again will be difficult as well. We know it will be at least a month, but we also know that the possibility of it being longer than a month is likely. 

We also lost an employee this past Sunday. He was only in his early-twenties. His cause of death was not due to the coronavirus, but other internal health complications that had been ongoing. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones during these hard times. His funeral will be held next week, but his friends at the restaurant cannot attend due to the COVID-19 situation. We want to show our support in the ways that we can- taking care of some of the funeral costs and supporting his family to our best ability even from afar. 

The donations made will be evenly distributed amongst my employees, deceased employee as well (for his family). My goal is to be able to give each employee at least $1,000 for the upcoming month. Any extra will be used to help pay for the restaurant’s rent and other necessary bills.
