Fireman's Friend

My name is Steve Ridge. I’m a proud 67 year old living a independent and productive life as a long time resident of Charlotte NC. I’m a father of three beautiful daughters, eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Served my country as a Honorable Veteran during the Vietnam war. Served my City as a Captain in the Charlotte Fire Department. I’m currently working in the construction/remodeling field. Why I’m asking for help: On January 7th 2020, I had an accident on the job that resulted in an injury to my lower leg. Two spiral fractures of my left Tibia required a steel plate and eleven screws to bring the bone back to its original position. My surgery was January 17th. Ortho physician estimated 12 weeks of immobility with possible rehab and 4-6 months return to work. Im in a removal boot and using crutches and a “KneeRover” to get around. Every effort is a big deal and since I live alone, it’s on me. So I’m unable to do my prior work which requires ladder work and mobility. The other challenge is that I suffer from chronic Tinnitus which results in significant Hearing Distortion making it difficult to have clear conversations. So I’m pretty much unemployable at this point. The funds will be used for daily living expenses until I’m working again.
