Christi's house caught fire when she wasn’t home. I cannot begin to imagine the fear and uncertainty she is experiencing.
From Christi's facebook page: "Came home and the house was completely enveloped in black black smoke—zero visibility.,kitchen on fire. Maggie and Maizy made it to me as I was searching and I got them outside. They both were black from smoke and gagging and coughing up black vomit. Michelin and William hid so it took much longer to find them; but they eventually came to me and I got them out. All four of them are in emergency vet (MedVet) now. They will be giving oxygen and meds and eye care for them. I’m praying we can be reunited tomorrow. I need to be with my babies so bad right now.
Servpro will be at the house tomorrow and I should have more answers. As for right now, it does appear that the majority is a loss. All of my furniture, mattresses, carpet, rugs, hardwood floors, cabinetry and appliances are gone. They are going to try to save my clothes but it may take a couple of weeks (apparently there’s some sort of ionization process that takes a long time). There is a big gaping hole from my kitchen down to the basement. The pipes were all damaged.
It is uninhabitable. The fire inspector informed us that everything is toxic, so spending more than a couple of minutes in there takes a toll on me physically. The smell is horrific. The ash covers everything—all 2800 square feet were damaged. Not a single thing survived unscathed from what I could tell.
I’m ok I think. Aside from my throat burning from the smoke inhalation and the screaming for help, the rest of me physically is ok. To say I am traumatized feels like an understatement. I’m in shock and my brain is all over the place. I don’t really hear anything anyone is saying. I can’t stop crying....."
Christi needs clothes and shoes, toiletries, pet food, etc. Any contribution is appreciated. Please keep Christi, Maizy, Maggie, Michelin and William in your hearts and prayers. ♡
