Fire Fund for John Iampieri

Donation protected
Sunday afternoon, June 11, Artist and Screen Painter, John Iampieri,  lost his garage and art studio in it's entirety due to a devastating fire.  Fortunately no one was  injured and the fire response teams from 4 stations acted as quickly as possible preventing it from spreading.

However, John not only lost his work space but also  ALL   inventory for exhibition and sale, ALL artist's materials, teaching materials, records, correspondence,
contracts and paperwork, as well as stored family items.

John wants to rebuild his  business as soon as possible. He is looking for a temporary place to set-up and work until he can rebuild.   In addition to building a new studio workspace, John will need to replace his entire supply of paints, brushes, and easels - as well as screen materials, work tables, and storage cabinets.  He had to cancel two community workshops scheduled and three day-long workshops. Residencies, camps, shows and presentations are pending throughout the summer and fall but are in danger of cancellation should replacement materials, equipment and storage space not be secured.

An estimate of $40,000 in funds are needed - and will be used to rent a temporary art space while rebuilding his studio. He will also need to purchase supplies- brushes, paints, screens, and other work materials to bring his business back to life. We want to help John rebuild, regroup, restock and restore his business -- any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!! THANK YOU for taking the time to read our request and share it with your friends -- and THANK YOU for helping John !

John is a talented artist who is  dedicated to his customers. He creates a highly local, pretty remarkable urban folk art that has been a part of Baltimore's rowhouse neighborhoods since 1913. By applying bold colorful scenes on woven wire window and door screens, his art can provide privacy for residents indoors while passersby are unable to see inside.  In Baltimore we say, "You see out, no one sees in."

John's  work is distinguished by its subject matter--
often reflecting the natural forms of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, wildlife and watermen, fish and marsh life.  He creates custom designs and ships throughout the US and other countries.

John also enjoys teaching his craft to others and feels  fortunate to teach both adults and children through school and community programs.

Again, THANK YOU  so much for helping John - by donations and by sharing his story with your friends! Helping others in their time of need is the best part of being a friend.
