Fire District 3 - Fundraiser for Juliann Anderson

Usually at this time of year, we'd be preparing for our annual Open House and Pancake Breakfast. It would have been held on June 5. We always look forward to the event.  We see so many friends and neighbors stop by and enjoy welcoming them into our fire stations.  And, each year we put on the pancake breakfast to raise money to support a local cause.  This year, while we may not be flipping pancakes, we're making an ask to help a local friend who is near to our hearts and dear to our community. 

Just a few months ago, Juliann Anderson started to feel a bit unwell and lost her appetite.  In less than a month's time she was experiencing severe stomach pain and was unable to eat.  A young and healthy woman, she wasn't expecting the diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer. In fact, a tumor had grown so fast that it created a nearly complete obstruction. After having abdominal surgery in March to remove 12 - 15 inches of colon, 2 tumors and lymph nodes, she is currently undergoing 6 months of chemotherapy before another abdominal surgery (reconstructive) can be scheduled.

Juliann's father is one of our Fire Commissioners, Jon Couture. Before Jon was a Fire Commissioner, he was a longtime volunteer for Fire District 3.  For over 30 years he has been taking care of our community.  And, now we want to help to take care of his daughter as she faces a tough challenge.
