Fire Destroys Home & Cars

The Nelson Family woke up to flames early Friday morning.  My Aunt Claudia, Uncle Paul, cousins Eric and Laura with her husband Lawrence were all inside the residence along with two fur babies.  All humans and one cat made it out in time, but sadly my cousin Eric's cat Slagathor didn't make it.  This family is a firm believer in God and they have been dealt far more than their share of trials this year.  Earlier this year, Eric was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and has been fighting the battling  with multiple hospital visits and surgeries.  My cousin Laura and her husband moved back from another state to help support the family as my aunt and uncle have their own health problems.  On one cold Friday morning, the family rushed outside with nothing but their pajamas (no shoes and a few with jackets) and one cat to watch their home burn.  They lost vehicles and basically everything inside the house to water and smoke damage.  The fire started in the garage and went up into the attic over all of the rooms.  The Folsom Fire guys did a great job.  The contractor vultures have already estimated the house to be a total loss and will need to be taken down to the frame to rebuild it.  The 5-person Nelson family is in a hotel room for now with basically the few clothes they were able to grab as they ran out of the house.  We were able to get into the house to try to save some items, but the smoke & water damage has trashed most everything - to include daily necessities.  Eric and Aunt Claudia have had to get brand new medications.  They have immediate needs for food, clothing, shoes, jackets and all of the toiletries for men and women.   Their hotel is near a lot of restaurants in Folsom near the Whole Foods.  I wanted to sign them up for Doordash, but their gift card service isn't working yet.  Mealtrain was an option, but they aren't sure how long they'll be at that specific hotel.  This whole weekend has been a blur for the Nelson family.  They still have to deal with the normal things like Eric's doctor appointments and upcoming procedures AND that it's Christmas.  My aunt lost her Christmas decorations, along with many, many, many family heirlooms and memories.  Yes, they have insurance that will come into play at some point but they have needs right this very minute.  If you can help with anything at all, I would be so grateful (as they will be).  It's just a lot to bear on this family, while Eric is fighting for his life and dealing with the loss of his fur buddy.  Thank you in advance for anything you can help with!
