Frost Fire Recovery

Dear family and friends,
As some of you have probably heard, our parents’ home caught on fire on September 16th near Gilbertville, IA. Thankfully no one was hurt; however, our home was severely damaged. The fire started in the back of the house and spread through the roof – the cause has yet to be
determined. Our parents’ bedroom was the most severely damaged part of the house, leaving them with only the clothing (and bedroom slippers!) on their back and feet.
There is a lot of smoke and water damage throughout the house, and now that rain has returned to the area, the damage will only continue to other parts of the house without a complete roof over the structure. Although the home was insured, there are still many uncertainties for the future.
Our parents are in the process of purchasing the basic necessities to continue with everyday tasks and to begin working again. The cost of purchasing even the most basic of items such as medication, toiletries, and clothing begins to add up.
They have supported us so much over the years and now we want to help them in whatever way we can. Many people have already asked how they can help. Just donating the smallest amount would help our parents tremendously. We would like to respectfully request any size donation, large or small, to help cover immediate costs while they are displaced to replace daily essentials like clothing, toiletries, medical supplies, medication, in addition to purchasing meals. If you are unable to contribute, please consider sharing this post and keeping them in your thoughts and prayers during this long period of recovery. Special HUGE thank you to the Gilbertville, Raymond, Evansdale and LaPorte City fire departments and all other first responders who assisted at the scene. Because of your efforts, we should be able to salvage some special keepsakes and mementos from our home.
