UPDATE on Fionnuala's Neuroblastoma cancer treatment 1/15/2021: "CURED!!!"

Fionnuala went in for surgery in mid-December, and despite the difficulty of the surgery and the size of the "visible gross tumor matter" in her body, the surgeons at  were able to remove about 98-100% of it, and  -- "we were ecstatic save her right kidney (which they had assumed they'd lose). This reached so far beyond everyone's expectations. Dr. Raval, Dr. Lautz, and the OR team deserve recognition for their extraordinary efforts.

It was the next day when our oncology team told us Fionnuala is "cancer-free" and the day after when, after examining the tumor closely, our team announced Fionnuala is "cured". What a feeling! Take that, 2020!

Let's pause here: this is worth incredible celebration. Months of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, numerous lengthy hospital stays - all delivering us to this day."
It is truly remarkable. A beam of hope for others who are dealing with similar hardships.
It is also a testament to the capabilities of modern medical practitioners, as well as the strength of a child. The love of a family which never lost hope, who rushed to support one another. And the support of total strangers, here on gofundme. The good will of hopeful good people. Impossibly huge thank you to everyone who shared or donated to this cause, who showed their support in one way or another, I hope you are comforted knowing the worst is over.
Fionnuala still has some recovery to go through, but is ecstatic to be home once again with her sister and parents.

We are so thrilled to have a joyous ending to this difficult trial.
Thanks again!

Hi everyone,

We are reaching out to raise money for some dear family members dealing with unexpected medical condition with their young daughter.

Fionnuala is a bright and energetic 4 year old girl who loves making art, listening to story time, and playing with her twin sister Céilidh.

On August 14th, Fionnuala went in for an MRI complaining of migraines. They found the cause is a massive adrenal gland tumor. Preliminary results from her biopsy reveal it is likely neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a solid tumor cancer, the third most common pediatric cancer. Almost 90% of neuroblastoma is found in children younger than 5.

Treatment requires long and frequent hospital stays and include chemotherapy and surgery. Fionnuala has been staying at a children's hospital for the past half-month while tests are run and course of action decided, luckily with her parents staying bedside with her. According to them: "despite everything, she is feeling fine and just wants to be home with her sister." Fionnuala continues to crack jokes with the doctors and gleefully watch Frozen 2 on repeat.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will help to alleviate some financial burdens (medical expenses, travel, food, lost income, etc) her loving parents incur during this devastating time.
