Find the Birds: Educational Mobile Game
Donation protected
Find the Birds is a recently launched free-to-download, free-to-play educational mobile game for children and adults about birds and conservation. It was co-created by Adam Dhalla (recipient of the 2018 American Birding Association's Young Birder of the Year Award) and is being produced by the non-profit organization Thought Generation Society.
You can download the game for free for Apple & Android phones & tablets from Google Play/App Store links on the homepage of:
www.findthebirds.com
In the game, players travel the world looking for realistic local bird species and complete conservation quests to help them. Along the way, they collect bird info cards, with accurate scientific content provided courtesy of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The first in-game location available now is Arizona, USA, and the second location will be British Columbia, Canada. Find the Birds already has thousands of players (in 45 countries!) and is looking to grow, so more birds and locations can be featured and more people can learn, in a fun way!
As the game is totally free for players and has no in-app purchases nor ads, we need to raise the money ourselves in order to build more locations, as we must of course pay the professional artists, animators, programmers, and game designers that produce the game.
This GoFundMe campaign is to raise money to pay for the third location of Find the Birds, the cost of which has now been estimated to be $30,000 CAD. As we have not decided where this location will be, this is a rare opportunity for donors to impact the content of a mobile game. If the vast majority of donors come from a specific place, there is a good chance we will choose it as the location, along with its native birds!
We won't be stopping at just three locations! If you, your club, school, group, charity, company, and/or organization really wants to have your favorite birding spot(s) featured in the game and are willing to raise/provide Thought Generation Society with $30,000 CAD (the revised cost to pay for the production team to build any new location within 2-3 months) to make it happen, in order to request your location & your favorite local birds/quests, and to arrange payment directly to Thought Generation Society (offline due to the size of the amount), work out a contract, and provide your logo & link for the game's sponsor screen, please contact Thought Generation Society's
(volunteer) Executive Director A.J. Dhalla (Adam's dad) directly using the email address on the Thought Generation website's contact page:

Note: Although GoFundMe is an excellent service, there is no need to leave a "tip" for them when you click to donate as they already take a commission % from donations. To avoid the tip, just change the drop down from the defaulted % to "Other" and then enter "0" in the next box. Also, although we would gladly accept donations under $5, these are not possible as $5 is the minimum that GoFundMe allows. On a brighter note, you can use prepaid credit/gift cards (e.g. Vanilla) if you don't have an actual credit card. Finally, please keep in mind that, as we are based in Canada, all donations are in CAD funds.
