<div>My name is Mallory. I developed 2 rare neurological conditions at the age of 16. I have had over 35 surgeries on my brain and spine over the past 11 years.
</div>

<div>I was diagnosed with idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (to much fluid on the brain) and Arnold Chiari Malflrmation, Type 1 (crowding of the brain at the junction of the brain, herniating into the spine). These conditions each occur in 1 in 100,00 persons. These surgeries have left me with Complex PTSD and 24/7 severe chronic pain.<br />I have no support to continue paying for these surgeries, that I’ve needed several times per year.<br />I need several medications to also help me function, in addition to the shunt. The shunt is to lower the excess pressures in my brain , but is not to help manage pain.

<div>I need these surgeries to have any quality of life. I have to wait 3-4 months before each surgery, battling  with 10/10 pain, vomiting, ringing in my ears, struggle to walk 1,000 feet due to pain, and other severe symptoms. The longer I wait the more likely it is that I’ll have a stroke  from high pressure and it scares me. <br />Ive battled bacterial meningitis from my shunts becoming infected, becoming legally blind for a year,  as well as the shunts clogging with brain matter.<br />After each surgery, being at least once a year, I needed new glasses to compensate for my lack of stable eye sight (double and blurred vision).<br />I can no longer pay for surgeries and have no support support. Unfortunately, I will likely need shunt surgeries for the rest of my life.

<div>Now at age 28, and I’m in need of financial assistance to help live and pay for surgeries.  I need help  for  medical treatments that my Social Security Benefits (SSA, SSI, IHSS) cannot cover.
</div>

<div>Shunt failures  have pushed back my ability to finish school to become a nurse (BSN), but dream of one day supporting patients who deal with pain, like myself.
