Raising money to help with medical expenses, gas back and forth to the hospital everyday and food while out visiting Brenda, and bills.
This family has taken a HUGE hit this year emotionally and financially! Jimmie (Brenda's husband) had knee replacement surgery and was scheduled to be off work 5 or 6 weeks. Brenda cared for him during the entirety of his rehab! Right before he was cleared to go back to work, Brenda tested positive for covid and they were all quarantined 14 days. Brenda had very severe symptoms that ultimately ended up becoming pneumonia. Medicines were prescribed to cure the pneumonia, and she was recovering nicely. Jimmie says she was eating again, and sleeping better.
Well, she complained to Jimmie that she didn't feel right but just thought it was the pneumonia wearing her down. She went to sleep that night, and awoke to an unbearable headache that ultimately landed her in the hospital! She was tested and they found that she had a major stroke in her cerebellum. She was tested for covid and tested positive (this is almost a month later). She was hospitalized and that is where she remains, her brain continues to stroke and they have counted 4 total, and she was ventilated to help keep her airway clear. She had surgery to have a part of her skull removed to relieve the pressure on her brain from swelling. She is still showing signs of swelling (drainage), but had a scan that shows she has a slight reduction in swelling in one part of her brain! Brenda was quarantined and marked no visitors for the first few days due to her positive covid test so the family was only allowed to see her via Zoom! The doctor's say Zoom meetings (all of the chatter of "home" have helped her! She was later cleared by the doctor for visits for immediate family members during visiting hours!
Latest Update: Brenda is breathing on her own but the ventilator is kept in place to ensure her airway is clear. (She is unable to swallow as of now due to the strokes in the area of her brain that controls her vitals). She is stable, but guarded condition!
Jimmie and Brenda have both been out of work for over a month and the bills will not stop coming! Not to mention the medical costs!
