Donate For Girl-Child Law Student At NTU, UK.
I have turned to GoFundMe platform for assistance in order to raise Tuition and Accommodation Fees for my twenty-years old niece who is a Second-Year Undergraduate LLB (Hons) Law Student at Nottingham Trent University here in the United Kingdom. She is currently going through unexpected and very tough financial times following the announcement by her parents that they are no longer able to make any further payments towards her educational costs.
The Fundraising Goal is a total of £14 410.00. Of this amount, the University Tuition Fees is £11 900.00 whilst the Accommodation Fees is £2 510.00. Any extra money will go towards her up keep.
The Fundraising Target is for her Second Year which began on 30 September 2019 and will end on 5 June 2020. Consequently, the matter is now urgent and critical before she is barred from attending
lessons and before she is locked out of the accommodation facilities.
The Third and Final Year will begin in September 2020 and will end in June 2021. An almost similar fundraising goal of £15 860.00 will be required. Of that amount, £11 900.00 will cater for Tuition Fees whilst £3 960.00 will be for Accommodation Fees.
My decision to fundraise on her behalf is for two reasons. I felt that there was a real need to help my brother`s daughter on one hand whilst protecting the identity of the “girl-child” student on the other hand. Consequently, her documents will be shown with the name blanked out.
The beneficiary is a very focused, mature, responsible and deserving student who makes me feel very confident and comfortable to recommend that all the donations be paid directly into her Bank Account. She is very passionate about her Law Studies hence she will know how best to apportion the donations among the educational and up keep costs
My niece arrived in the United Kingdom, from her Southern Africa country called Zimbabwe, on 21st September 2018 on a three-year General Student Visa. Her First Year was from 24th September 2018
up to 14th June 2019. She was awarded the prestigious Undergraduate Scholarship of £2 000.00, only, payable annually for the three-year duration of the programme.
Her parents paid the balance of all her educational costs for the First Year but only managed to pay the deposit for Accommodation Fees for the Second Year before the sad news came up. The unforeseen inability to continue giving her the necessary financial support is linked directly to the fact that her parents` family business collapsed due to its failure to cope with the volatile and inflationary effects of price rises. Zimbabwe is currently in an economic meltdown situation which
erupted and heightened in 2019 whilst my niece was already here.
According to Wikipedia; Zimbabwe`s official Inflation Rate for June 2018 was 2.9% but shot up to be pegged at 97.9% by June 2019. Chris Muronzi, a Financial Journalist for AL JAZEERA News, reported
on 27 September 2019 that Zimbabwe`s Statistics Office will not release inflation data, but the IMF puts the figure at 300 percent, thus, making the record the highest in the world. Furthermore, tradingeconomics.com says that, the Inflation Rate climbed to 480.7 percent in November 2019. The country; which was once the bread basket of Southern Africa is now the basket case of the region.
The Government`s austerity measures seem to make it worse for now.
The economic crisis was a recipe for disaster for my niece`s parents whose fuel retail business traded under the name Bioline Petroleum (Pvt) Ltd. and was, unfortunately, the only source of income.
They, not only lost their business concern but, also lost all their assets including their only dwelling home. As if that was not bad enough already, my niece`s mother developed serious health problems
that make it even more difficult for her to get up and help to look for ways to resuscitate the family business.
Zimbabwe is a former colony of the United Kingdom and is also a former member of the Commonwealth Of Nations. Despite her tender age, my niece is already looking forward to the days when her country will be re-admitted as a member of the Commonwealth Of Nations and to the days when she will be able to practise as a Lawyer in her own country. Her choice to come and study here was influenced by her realisation that her country's education, social and economic systems
were all developed by The United Kingdom and her other development partners.
