Hi, my name is Mary Ann Fernandez. I had been facing a growing uterine fibroid cyst for the first half of this year. I tried alternative approaches to healing but without success. On July 3rd, I had a car accident that caused some bruising and completely wrecked my car. The car insurance used the money to pay off the loan on the car, so I have been without a car ever since, occasionally borrowing a car from my kind friends.
After that I had 3 ER visits initially due to severe pain in the abdomen, and later due to an abdominal discoloration and infection. I ended up in the hospital on July 22nd with a severe abdominal infection. After a week of strong antibiotics, the doctors performed surgery on July 31, a total hysterectomy, to remove the mass along with the reproductive organs - the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and belly button. It turns out the mass they removed was cancerous - an aggressive form of leiomyosarcoma!
I spent another two weeks in the hospital on antibiotics post surgery to make sure there was no infection and that recovery was going well. Based on the doctor's recommendation I have been undergoing chemotherapy treatments since Aug 29, and expected to continue until the end of November.
Unfortunately I have not been able to work at all during this time, and I have not had any medical insurance, and so the medical and household bills have been piling up. On top of that, my short term disability was not approved, so I have been without any income since July 22, and have been hanging on through the generosity and support of my friends and loved ones.
I am reaching out to all of you for generous financial support to help me and my family pay the household and medical bills and re-establish my life so that I can move forward again without such a financial burden as I am currently experiencing.
The money will go towards paying my medical, my household bills, for food, and to help me get started on buying a used car so that I will again be able to resume my work after recovering from the chemotherapy treatments. I require a car for my work to do home health care visits for patients.
